Fine Gael Cork City Senator Jerry Buttimer has called for urgent action by the Government and all interested parties to ensure that Cork has a ferry link in time for next summer’s tourist season.
Speaking in the Seanad Senator Buttimer said: ‘I am calling for the Minister to come to the House to debate the issue of the Cork-Swansea ferry. It is intolerable that Cork, the gateway to Munster, would not have a maritime link to its neighbours in Wales or England. I urge that the Leader would invite the Minister to the House’. “Cork has had a strong link with the UK and in particular with Swansea. It is critical to Cork and to the West Cork region that we have a fully operational ferry in time for the summer tourist season. Time is of the essence and therefore I am asking that all interested parties would make every effort to secure a ferry service.”
