Cork Fine Gael Senator Jerry Buttimer has said that the “Pay increases for a minority of staff at Anglo Irish bank is morally wrong and indefensible. This pay rise is unjustifiable at a time when we are cutting pay to specialist staff and withdrawing specialist attention for children in education. “
“This pay increase should not be tolerated at a time when people across Cork are losing their jobs, having their pay cut, or having hours reduced. I am angry that at a time when the bank is about to announce the biggest ever corporate loss in Irish history they can further insult people is very wrong.”
“I am calling on the board to immediately withdraw this pay increase. Are the board serious and the Minister serious? Anglo is about to make the biggest loss in Irish corporate history and people are going to get a pay rise. It’s crazy and wrong. “
