Buttimer rebukes Martin’s “Tug of War” assertion

Cork South Central Fine Gael Candidate, Senator Jerry Buttimer has called on Michael Martin to be mindful of the fact, that “it is The People of Ireland and not Deputy Martin who will choose the next Government.” Senator Buttimer made his comments in response to Deputy Martin’s claim that the next Government would be a Policy “Tug of War” between Fine Gael and Labour.

Senator Buttimer added, “Fine Gael is contesting this Election on our own Policy Platform. We are presenting to the Electorate, the Policies which we believe are required in order to undo the Economic and Social carnage perpetrated against the People of this Country by the previous Government, a Government in which Deputy Martin served as a Minister, for the past thirteen Years”.

Senator Buttimer added, “Unlike Fianna Fail, Fianna Gael is fielding enough Candidates to win an Overall Majority. However, the outcome of this General Election is a matter for the Electorate. Fine Gael will respect whatever Mandate the Electorate gives us and use that Mandate in the best interests of this Country and all of its People ”.
