Cork South Central Fine Gael TD Jerry Buttimer has welcomed the announcement of funding for the Frankfield-Grange-Bellevue Pedestrian Project.

Deputy Buttimer said “The Minister for Transport has announced €290,000 funding for footpaths, pedestrian crossings and speed ramps as part of the Frankfield-Grange-Bellevue Pedestrian Project.

“When completed these works will provide an additional 750m of footpaths, two pedestrian crossings and speed ramps.  These are much needed facilities which will be of benefit to the community.  The improvements will enhance the safety of pedestrians and children playing in the area.

“This money has been sourced from the jobs initiative and savings made from other projects which have enabled the reallocation of funds.  The project is one of many priority 2 projects nationally which have been granted funding under the jobs initiative.

“The funding has been obtained by Cork County Council as it applied for the project in the first round of applications, from which it received €177,000 for this project.  Local authorities that did not submit a second application have been asked to do so and these will be processed shortly.”
