Congratulations to all students getting their leaving certificate results today, each student should take pride in their achievements. Today’s leaving certificate results are the results of years of work and study.
In getting to this momentous day students have been assisted by the dedication and support of their parents, family, friends and teachers, these people too deserve to be recognised today.
There will be some uncertainty about the future for those collecting their results, the current employment market is very difficult, but many of today’s leaving certificate students won’t be entering full-time employment for a number of years. In making decisions on their future they should not be planning for tomorrow but for when they intend entering the workforce.
Inevitably there will be mixed emotions today, some students will be busy mapping out the next phase of their life while others will be unsure what is around the corner. While the Leaving Certificate results are important the outcome of the exams does not pre-determine anyone’s future. There are options available to all students regardless of their results, and just because you don’t get exactly what you want does not mean that you can’t still pursue your own individual goal.
