- €36 million in funding will help to improve quality and safety of Cork Roads.
This allocation of €36 million will allow restoration and improvement works to be carried on Cork roads. The funding will ensure that essential upkeep and maintenance works on our road network will be carried out, benefitting drivers across Cork City and County.
Locally there are some very crucial projects included in this funding. The Minister has confirmed that more than €1.6 million will be made available for work on the Carrigaline Western Relief Road. Residents of Rochestown, Mount Oval, Garryduff and Broadale will benefit from almost €85,000 that has been allocated for works on the Clarke’s Hill – Moneygourney road.
On the western side of Cork City €50,000 has been set aside for road works at Cork Technology Park, Bishopstown. Each of these projects will improve the quality of our roads, which will benefit all those who drive on our local roads.
The money that has been announced by the Minister is in addition to the money collected locally through the local property tax. This revenue stream will allow Councils to use the money contributed by those living locally for road projects that will be of direct benefit to their communities.
