  • Funding for Cork festivals will continue to help support tourism and cultural activities in Cork
  • Failte Ireland has approved €47,000 for 15 festivals in Cork

Festivals are a very important part of the social and cultural fabric Cork, each year they help attract tourists to our city and county and are an opportunity for local residents to explore a wide variety of events.  The funding announced by Minister Ring will ensure that the 15 festivals that are sharing €47,000 will again be success in helping to support local tourism.

The festivals that will benefit from this funding include Cork Folk Festival, Cork Craft and Design and Ocean to City.  Each is a unique event that showcases a different aspect of Cork life.  When each festival is taking place our varied cultural and artistic heritage is put on show, attracting thousands of visitors and boosting business and tourism in both city and county.

Nationally over €500,000 has been approved by Fáilte Ireland for regional festivals and events taking place this year.    This will support 187 events and is in addition to almost €2.3 million which was already announced for 27 large national festivals throughout Ireland in 2015.
