Fine Gael Senator for Cork South Central, Jerry Buttimer, has welcomed the announcement by Cork City Council of road upgrade works on the Bandon/Sarsfield Interchange Scheme. The scheme reached substantial completion in 2013. However supplementary work is still required.
It is proposed to upgrade signage on the various approaches to the new interchange. This is likely to include things such as message electronic signs, closed circuit TV cameras and electronic traffic counters etc.
There is a huge need to enhance the public realm alongside the roundabouts at the Bandon Road and Sarsfield road. I would call on TII to make sure these works are carried out in a timely manner as to not disrupt local residents and commuters.
