I welcome a progress update from the Minister for Education on Rochestown Educate Together following representations I have made.
An agreement in principle has been reached with the landowner for the acquisition of a permanent site for the school, and this is now at the conveyancing stage and is being progressed. The Department of Education and Skills will continue to work closely with all stake holders and a Design Team has now been put in place.
“I have been informed by my colleague Minister Richard Bruton that the situation in Rochestown Educate Together is closer to coming closer to a resolution.
“It is not acceptable for children in any school to be in temporary classroom accommodation and I understand the frustration of the School Community in Rochestown.
“This is a very important issue to me and I have raised this matter with the Minister on numerous occasions.
.“The hard work and patience of the Pupils, Staff and Parents must be commended and while this is good news the current situation is not acceptable, I will continue my advocacy along with Cllr Deirdre Forde on behalf of the Pupils, Parents and Staff of the school to bring this situation to a resolution as soon as possible”
